He's makin' a list...

So it may seem like Emma was the only one brave enough to sit on Santa's lap this year...but there is more to the story!! A day before this visit, Maddie and I were at the mall. Now, neither of the girls have ever been interested in seeing or sitting anywhere near Santa!! But for some reason on that particular day Maddie was VERY interested!! She asked if we could go down and see him. I'm thinking ok...she just wants to look (from a distance), but no...she runs up there hops on his lap and spends a good 5 minutes chatting it up with St. Nick. Of course the only thing I'm thinking is how I don't have my camera...and I'm not paying an arm and a leg for the ones that the "elves" are selling! AHHH! I was so bumbed!! And of course it was just a one time thing, I've been begging her to go back so that I can get some pics, but she said "I only need to go once!" But the next day Emma and I went and I got some really great pictures of the two of them meeting for the first time! :)

Lot's of hugs for Santa!
I'm still working on Maddie, so hopefully we'll get some pictures of her this year too!! But like Phil always says..."just because you don't have a picture of it doesn't mean it didn't happen!!!" :)

All the trimmings

Every year the girls get a new ornament that represents their hobbies/interests over the year. This year both the girls have really enjoyed watching "Barbie" movies. So Maddie received the girls from Barbie in the Princess and the Pauper
And Emma chose Barbie from the Island Princess, which was also the theme for her birthday party this year. Thank you EBAY!!! :)
Phil giving the game plan for tree decorating!

Maddie's year to put the star on the top. You are now all witnesses, so you'll have to help me remember for next year...although I"m sure Emma won't let me forget!!
Silly Santa faces!

The Hunt...

Here are a few pictures from our trip out to the Christmas tree farm. I love going out with the girls and cutting down a real tree...I guess it's just a tradition passed down from my family! :)

The Kilian Family tree for Christmas 2008! :)

Each of the girls took a turn with the saw, which they thought was pretty cool!

Thanksgiving

Wow, I can't believe I haven't updated my blog since before Thanksgiving. Sorry! :) What is even more unbelievable is that Christmas is just 2 weeks away!!
Emma's class had a little Thanksgiving lunch. Each student brought in an item to add to the class trail mix. Before they added it to the bowl, they shared what they were thankful for. Really cute idea! Oh yeah...and Emma was thankful for "good food to eat!" That's my girl! :)

Her class performed a few songs and poems! I love that I can get the whole class into one picture! :)

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year. We used our oven to cook the bird, but i'm not taking any credit for it! Still a little nervous about cookin' the main course!
We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! :)

Cat Nap!

How cute are these two?
Max loves his afternoon naps with Maddie

Happy Halloween!

Friday we were busy like bee's (and ladybugs) you might say! :)
First we visited GG and her neighbors, which is always fun! The weather was beautiful! Good thing b/c we only had flip flops that matched our costumes! Phew!! :)

GG and her love bugs!
A few families from our small group met at our house for pizza before we hit up the Trunk or Treat at a church down the road.
Maddie and her "hero" , Eli!
Ty showin' off his Superman muscles!!
Shane the bee
Grace was an adorable little lady bug, although I wasn't able to get ANY pictures of her from the front! :) She caught on to the idea of trunk or treating really fast!

The gang!
At home checking out the loot! Of course I had to go through it and tell her what she "wouldn't like" right??? What?? I can only do that for a few more years! :)

We hope you all had a fun Halloween!!

Carving out good times...

This year the girls used their Mr. Potato head pieces to decorate their little pumpkins. They turned so cute!!
Maddie, choosing her pieces!

Getting started..

Princess and the pea..I mean Maddie :)
Emma decided last minute that she wasn't interested in doing pumpkins this year. So unfortunately we don't have any pictures of her. But we do have a pic of the pumpkin that she instructed her sister to create for her piece by piece! She plays the older sister card so well! :)

Maddie does excellent work!
