{6 years old...}

Happy Birthday Maddie-cakes!!!
We celebrated Madison's 6th b-day on Sunday. We had a few last minute changes! Phil was really sick over the weekend, so we had the party at my parents house.
We didn't want to pass along those germs! Thanks Mom & Dad!!! :)

Striking a pose..

GG and Maddie rockin' the rock star glasses

The house was filled with cutie-pies...
Anna-Baby
Dane Sattler
And his twin brother, Nyle
The rockin' cousins..
Auntie Liz gave Maddie this adorable hat for her bday! The flower is interchangeable...so cute!!
Her sister, Emily, makes them. If you want one, just let me know...I'll pass along her info!!

I recruited my dad to make the cake this year. Maddie spotted the rock star party supplies at target a few weeks ago...have I mentioned that I love Target? I do!!! :)
My dad did an amazing job, just like I knew he would!
Thanks Dad...U ROCK!!! :)

Can we just stop having Birthday's now??? Please???
Here are a few pictures of my nephew Cohen.

He wanted to "rock-out" too! :)
*FYI...I just posted about 6 new posts...so you might have to click on the see "older posts" button to catch up. * Enjoy!!! :)

Birthday Girl...

Thursday (4/14) was Madison's 6th Birthday! I usually work on Thursday's, but not today!!
I went to the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale (in Fort Wayne, IN) later that day...but the morning was dedicated to the Birthday Girl!!! :)

Can you guess where we went for Breakfast??
One of her b-day presents...
This should give it away...Yummy Rykse's cinnamon rolls!!
After breakfast I surprised Maddie with a mini-manicure from our favorite nail salon,
Vicki Nails.
This is always the hardest part!!
Can you tell she's done this before? :)
She decided on purple with sparkles...perfect!! :)
She tried to talk me into a pedicure...but I wasn't giving in!!!

Treats...

Last Wednesday Maddie-Cakes and I worked on her Birthday treats for school.
She wanted a Tangled theme...which was pretty easy!! If you haven't seen the movie..you should!! It's adorable! Anyway... I decided to pull out the camera (which I feel like I haven't been doing enough lately!).
The dreamy Flynn Rider :)
Maddie insisted that the boys have Flynn on their cupcake, because "they might not like the girly ones." So thoughtful!
Of course she enjoyed the frosting too...
Probably breaking heath code here...shhhh don't tell her classmates! :)
Can you tell she just took off her shin guards? :)

{Details...}

Phil and I have been working (slowly but surely) on Emma's room. She decided before Christmas that she wanted her own room!! We have had a bed waiting in the basement for the past two years...so we were excited to get it out and create a room around it! We weren't in a rush...and still have some finishing touches to do, but it's starting to come together nicely!! :)

Enjoy some of the details of Emma's new room...
My mom gave Emma a small desk that was her's when she was a little girl. My dad sanded it down and repainted it, I picked out some new knobs...and wala...it was the perfect addition to the room!! Thanks Mom!! :)
Phil actually picked up this antique Jenny Lind bed
a few summers ago, when we were vacationing in Pentwater.
We didn't paint it at all, it was already red and worn..which I LOVE!!! :)

I don't sew (I soooo wish I knew how!!!!) so I picked out a bunch of fabric and gave it to a fellow teacher. She made these amazing pillows!!! They are even better than I had imagined in my mind!! The backs are different so Emma can change it up at any time!

Emma asked me to paint her a picture for her room!?!? UMMM...I don't draw, so I don't know why she thought this would be a good idea!! But I promised her I'd come up with something. :)
I have always loved the "whatever is..." verse, Philippians 4:8...and I think it's a verse that she will be able to apply to her life now..as well as when she's older (but we're not going to talk about that, it just makes me sad!!!)
This machine is patiently waiting for the PERFECT gum-balls!!! About 5 months ago I saw some beautiful (can gum-balls be beautiful...I think yes!!!) pastel gum-balls. I will not settle for the primary colors at this point. I will drive down to Shipshewana and buy the perfect gum-balls. And I will eat yeast doughnuts and a JoJo's pretzel..and probably buy some Amish bacon!!!
I don't know when...
but I will!!! :)

{Speech Meet}

Emma had the privilege of representing HCA (1st Grade) in Poetry at the ACSI Speech Meet.
She and her "friend-that's-a-boy" Scotty, were asked to recite their piece again in front of judges and a small audience. There was not an "overall" winner for the meet. It was of a "personal best" type thing :)

We traveled to the booming metropolis {sarcasm} of Watervliet, Michigan.

Heritage Christian Academy Speech Meet participants:
Emma received a ribbon for Excellence... She did GREAT!!! :)
Scotty was also awarded for Excellence in his Bible memorization!!
Great Job Kiddos!!! :)

{Welcome Cohen McHale}

Nicole and Rob welcomed Cohen McHale Boomershine on March 11,2011
7lbs. 15oz. 21inches
Emma had a little cold, so she wasn't able to hold Cohen at the hospital. :(
We did, however, get a few cute pics of Madison lovin' on her new baby cousin!! :)

Congratulations Nicole & Rob!!
