Paneling, Paint fumes and 1990's Christian Rock!!

Last weekend we decided to start working on the back room of our house. No disrespect to the people who lived here before.. but panelling? Was that really necessary?? :) As much as we wanted to rip it off we found that it would be easier, cheaper and less time consuming if we just paint over it. The main project this weekend was painting the fireplace. Phil and I started priming at around 9:30pm, and we finished at 2:00am. Old school DC Talk Cd's (which we still knew all the words to!) and strong paint fumes actually made this a fun night together!! The next morning Maddie and Emma each got a turn to participate in the fun!
The fireplace still needs one more coat of color, but I think it turned out really nice. Phil has plans to build a mantel, and trim out the sides in white. I can't wait to see it all come together! The paneling is ready to be painted, that will be next weekends project. We will update with more pictures as the project continues to progress!
By the way for all you DC Talk fans out there... Phil and I (@around 1:30am) decided that the group should definitely get back together and tour! Paint fumes??? or a really great idea??? :)

If you weren't into Christian rock in the 90's here's a little taste of what you missed! :)

Snow Day

Phil bought the girls a sled for Christmas, but it has been SO cold that we haven't had many chances to go out and use it. Last Saturday the sun was shining, and it was a few degrees above freezing, so we ventured out to the park around the corner from our house.
Maddie went down twice and then told us (MANY times) that she wasn't going to go back down until she turned 3!!
Emma really enjoyed speding time with Phil! Before we left she was asking to go over the "bumps" in the snow!

Maddie and I resorted to making snow angels, at least until next winter...when she's 3 :)

OH...MAN!!!

Sunday's game was rough to watch!!! We all gathered at Wes and Em's with great hopes that we could cheer our Packers to the Super Bowl. There was plenty of cheering/yelling/gasping/"ahhh"ing...But nothing helped, not even the kids who were sporting GBay tattoos :). We walked away disappointed, and just bummed out!! Hopefully Favre will stick around for another exciting season!!!
There is still plenty of Brett Favre love around here...(not just from me..ok..mostly from me, but hey..what can I say)

GO PACK!!

Saturday night was fun here at the Kilian house. Being the Packers fans that we are, I have been in search of a pink Favre jersey to wear while I cheer our team to victory. I finally found one, and Carrie delivered it from Wisconsin over Christmas. Saturday night was the first time I was going to put it on, in hopes that it would bring good luck. I was immediately informed by Phil, that if the Packers were losing at halftime I was going to have to put something else on. He said that they have been doing fine without me in the jersey, and didn't want me to jinx them!!! We (my jersey and I) are taking full credit for the win around here! :) OK.., I guess we can give some credit to how hot...I mean how great a quarterback Favre is! :)

Sunday, of course, we watched more football! But we were Manning fans all day. We were disappointed that the Colts lost (sorry Kenny/Crystal), but ecstatic when the Giants pulled it out in the 4th quarter. For those of you who are wondering why this is such a big deal... The Packers get home field advantage next weekend, and will be playing a team that they've already beat!! Which means...they have a great chance at being in the Super Bowl in Feb. At one point Phil was dancing his victory dance around the living room...sorry I don't have a video of that! :)

Needless to say, you know where my jersey and I will be next weekend!!! Go Packers!!!!

Christmas Day

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and fun new year!
This first picture best illustrates our Christmas and the week to follow. Please take notice of the two lined garbage can's on either side of our girls. Those weren't just there "in case", they would get great use over the course of a week. :) Emma started it all the night before Christmas Eve, and it worked it's way through the family, claiming a new victim each day. That being said, the girls were not going to let upset stomachs get in their way of enjoying Christmas (as you can tell in the pictures to follow) They just had to stay within reach of their buckets. :) Size 15 Croc's do exist, and we found them!!! The girls love their crocs, and wanted their Bampa to share in that cushy comfort. We thought it would be impossible to find a pair that would fit! We found some on our trip to North Carolina, and the girls were SO excited to give them to him.

I wish I looked this cute when I was sick! :)

Christmas Morning

We spent Christmas morning at home. Despite the flu bug that was making it's way around the family, this was a fun year with the girls. They both really enjoyed talking and reading about baby Jesus, and the first Christmas. We also enjoyed watching the girls open their gifts from "Santa" this year. Maddie was pretty excited about getting "Spider Web" a.k.a. Charlotte's Web :)
Emma was really excited about her new soccer bag, because it was just like daddy's (For the record...Phil's is blue not pink!! :)

Christmas Eve

We enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at my parents house, then headed over to GG's for presents and dessert!

The girls looked so cute in their Christmas dresses, even if they didn't get to wear them for long (we didn't want to risk getting "sick" on them)

Maddie LOVED her new Dora dress up clothes!
